Triumph against Greenville!
FTLCF capture all three coveted points in the race for the final playoff position
Welcome Back, La Familia!
What a weekend! With a full slate of futbol across the EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue One, Serie A, MLS and USL, our eyes were glued to the TV all weekend! Unfortunately, Inter Miami did not come out against a much strong opponent in NYCFC but we still had FTLCF action to look forward to on Sunday night. Let go ahead and dive in to all the action!
FORT LAUDERDALE CF
Greenville Triumph Review:
If you are like me, you are still trying to catch your breath from last nights track meet down in South Florida. FTLCF and Greenville Triumph did not disappoint! It was the pacey, physical, open ended battle that we all expected here at the IMPC. Lets take a look at how the game turned out….
Fort Lauderdale 2 - Greenville Triumph - 0
Goal Scorers:
Shann Hundal (72nd min)
Mitchell Curry (75th min)
Assists:
Mitchell Curry (72nd), George Acosta (75th min)
Disciplinary Actions:
Yellow Card: Noah Allen (45th min), Ignacio Poplawski (56th min), Brian Rosales (76th min), Dylan Hardin (90th +3 min)
Than’s Man of the Match:
Brian Rosales - Brian was a man on form tonight. He took over the right side of the field and caused continuous headaches for the Greenville players. Brian won’t have the stat line or the headlines to praise his industrious performance but it won’t matter to him. The team pushed, got 3 well deserved points and are pushing for that final playoff spot. Congrats, Brian!
Key Moment of the Game:
Coach Powell subbed on Shaan Hundal in the 69th minute for a very tired Venton Evans. The fire that Shaan brought to the field was the gasoline to ignite the already burning fire of FTLCF into a raging inferno. Shaan would go on to score in the 72nd and have a major part to play in the 2nd goal scored in the 75 minute.
Tucson Preview
With three points successfully snagged from Greenville, all sights are now turned on Tucson who has been a bit of a mixed back (like the rest of USL League One) this year. One minute, they are giving up 5 goals to us and then they turn around and beat Revs 2. Lets see what we can expect in our next match up….
Date/Time: Sunday, August 22nd, 2021 @ 7:30pm
Location: DRVPNK Stadium
Lets see below how the teams stack up against each other….(Stat tables brought to you by statarea.com)
Stats Over last 10 games:
Current USL League One Standings as of 08/16/2021:
Prediction:
Given our run of form compared to the run of form to FC Tucson, I believe we will come out on top by atleast 2 goals. FC Tucson has given up 5 goals in the past three games and have only mustered 1 goal scored. FTLCF is clicking as a unit and I am hard pressed to go against the boys on this one. However, I do believe we give up a goal.
Looking at the stat lines across the season, FTLCF have played in games where both teams score 90% of the time while FC Tucson plays in games where both teams score 50% of the time. With that being said, my prediction is…..
Fort Lauderdale 3 - FC Tucson 1

Than’s MLS Goal of the Week
Bobby Wood vs Austin - Bobby takes home my Goal of the Week this week. No, its not the most spectacular or profound goal you will ever see but its his reaction and celebration to it all. He scores the go ahead goal and instead of making the goal be all about himself, he runs over to his daughter and gives her a loving embrace and a kiss. As a parent, this gets me right in the feels. Not to mention that this celebration along consisted of four generations of his family. An all around wholesome moment that we need more of now more than ever!
Than’s EPL Goal of the Week
New to Pink Smoke is Than’s EPL goal of the week. This weeks honor goes to
Danny Ayling of Leeds United
With Leeds trailing in the Theater of Dreams, Danny Ayling took advantage of the space afforded to him by Luke Shaw and Harry MaGuire. Danny absolutely uncorked a screamer that beat DDG to his right and leveled the match for Leeds.
Fortunately, the Bruno Fernandes show put the match out of reach for Leeds. Congrats nonetheless, Danny!
